Abbeyfield Loughton (Rider House) Terms
The weekly charge for a room at Rider House is £266, payable
in four-weekly (lunar monthly) instalments. To secure the room, the
Society initially requires four weeks' charges to be paid in advance.
After you have taken up residence, the Treasurer will discuss with you
the method of payment you would prefer, to achieve payment of the
charges each month.
The charge allows you sole occupancy of your room. Included in the
charges are heating, hot water, lighting, the cleaning of the en-suite
facilities and the use of the Laundry/ Drying room, where you can wash
your clothes and use the tumble and spin-dryer and ironing
facility. You are also able to use the bathroom and shower
room.
You are advised to arrange for the insurance of your personal property.
If you have to go into hospital, the room will be kept for you and the
food costs will be deducted if the period of your absence is for more
than three days, and for a maximum of two months - after
which your situation will be reviewed.
In order that the house may run smoothly, the Society reserves the
right to take possession of your room should it think fit, and at its
discretion. The Society will give you and your Sponsor two months'
notice of its intention in this regard. This action will only be deemed
necessary if you either fail to pay your charges or, alternatively, the
Society considers it necessary for you to move to an establishment that
can provide the level of care that your situation requires and for
which the Society is not equipped. The Society also expects you to give
a similar period of notice if you decide to terminate your residency
agreement of your own volition.
The occupancy of your room on the above terms does not create a legal
tenancy between you and the Society.
In the event of any problem arising, you are at liberty to discuss this
with the Housekeeper, the House Chairperson or any member of
the Executive Committee.
